| Tom Richtler works on globular clusters and globular cluster systems of galaxies. A main issue is to use globular clusters as dynamical probes for their host galaxy's potential. Wide-field photometry of early-type galaxies serves for determining the morphological parameters of globular cluster systems. The combined photometric and kinematic data shall constrain theories of galaxy formation. Moreover, he works on young massive clusters in spiral galaxies and problems of star cluster formation. Other interests are the stellar initial mass function and supernovae. |
