Welcome to our new postdocs
Since August, joined the Department of Astronomy, Julie Nantais (PhD from Harvard University, Boston, USA); Bogumil Pilecki (PhD from University of Warsaw, Poland); Richard Lane (PhD from University of Sydney) and André Nicolas Chené (PhD in Astronomy from Université de Montréal, Canada)
Dr. Julie Nantais is working with Professor Ricardo Demarco, in the investigation of clusters of galaxies at high redshift, while Dr. Bogumil Pilecki will work together with Drs. Wolfgang Gieren, Grzegorz Pietrzynski and Dariusz Graczyk in the Araucaria Project, on the improvement of the calibration of the cosmic distances scale.
Richard Lane, another postdoc, has arrived at the Astronomy
Department in Concepcion. He is Australian citizen and earned his PhD
at the University of Sydney. Dr. lane will work with professor
Tom Richtler of our Department on the determination of the
dark matter content of early type galaxies, and on a unified
Galactic evolutionary model. |
