Dear 2011B Gemini Principal Investigator - Congratulations! You are receiving this e-mail because your proposal for time on Gemini was successful. Important information concerning the Phase II definition of your program is given below. Note that the access key is necessary both for storing your Phase II and for accessing your data. The deadline for completing your Phase II is July 15 2011. You will be the single point of contact for Phase II preparation and other queries. Email notification of data availability will be sent to you only. If you wish to change the primary contact for your program, or add contacts, please e-mail Sandy Leggett (sleggett@gemini.edu) with a copy to both Gemini Heads of Science Operations (email addresses below) and to your National Gemini office. PROGRAM SUMMARY --------------- Program Title: Tracing gas flows in Active Galactic Nuclei down to the innermost few parsecs: Completion of a statistically meaningful "sample" Principal Investigator: Neil Nagar Gemini Program ID: GS-2011B-Q-23 Time awarded: 7.0 hours Scientific Ranking Band: Band One National Office support staff: gallardo@das.uchile.cl Gemini Contact Scientist: cwinge@gemini.edu,pgomez@gemini.edu Phase II and Data Access Key: WJRGG ITAC FEEDBACK ------------- You may receive feedback concerning your proposal from your National TAC or NGO. In addition, the following comment (if any) comes from the International Time Allocation Committee (ITAC): This proposal has been scheduled in Band 1, but has not been given rollover status. GEMINI PHASE II DEADLINES ------------------------- Dates for submission of completed Phase II information are: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 15 JULY 2011 - MANDATORY DEADLINE FOR ALL QUEUE AND CLASSICAL PROGRAMS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PROGRAMS THAT HAVE NOT SUBMITTED THEIR PHASE II DEFINITIONS BY THIS DATE WILL BE DROPPED. In exceptional cases an exemption may be requested by emailing both Heads of Science Operations at Gemini (addresses given below). Earlier Phase II submission is encouraged and often gives the PI a significant advantage in the queue. ToO programs must define templates for the science observations. For Rapid ToO programs the Gemini contact scientist will add template observations and iterate with the PI. MOS programs must define the science observations that are awaiting custom masks. Mask submission deadlines are available from: http://www.gemini.edu/sciops/queue-and-schedules. CLASSICAL PROGRAMS ------------------ Please see http://www.gemini.edu/sciops/queue-and-schedules for your scheduled observing dates. Instructions for visiting observers can be found at: http://www.gemini.edu/sciops/science-visitors-gemini. INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR VISIT IS REQUIRED AT LEAST 4 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE RUN. The deadline for completing your Phase II is July 14 2011. PHASE II DEFINITION ------------------- A new release of the Gemini Observing Tool (OT) for 11B is available from http://www.gemini.edu/sciops/observing-with-gemini/observing-tool/ot-installation. This version must be used for completing your Phase II observation details. Your Phase II "program skeleton" is available in the Gemini Observing database and is the starting point for completing your Phase II. When retrieving or storing your science program you will be prompted for your program ID number and the numeric key given above. Information on the OT, including how to load programs and a tutorial, is available at http://www.gemini.edu/sciops/observing-with-gemini/observing-tool/. YOU MUST USE THE OT INSTRUMENT LIBRARIES TO COMPLETE YOUR PHASE II, which are accessed using the File->Fetch Libraries OT feature. Your National Office may have already added examples taken from the instrument libraries for you. Requests for changes to targets, observing conditions, etc. must follow the procedure described at: http://www.gemini.edu/sciops/?q=node/11006. HELPFUL LINKS ------------- Information on how the telescopes are scheduled, how to optimize your chances in the queue, and on operational statistics is available at: http://www.gemini.edu/sciops/observing-with-gemini/observing-modes?q=node/11521 http://www.gemini.edu/sciops/observing-with-gemini/advice-band-3-programs http://www.gemini.edu/sciops/statistics Information on the progress of your program, and email addresses for your NGO and Gemini support staff is available at the "interactive snapshot" of the Observing Database at: http://www.gemini.edu/sciops/queue-and-schedules. Thank you for your prompt attention to your Phase II submission and we wish you well in your investigations. Regards, Inger Jorgensen, Gemini North Head of Science Operations (ijorgensen@gemini.edu) Bernadette Rodgers, Gemini South Head of Science Operations (brodgers@gemini.edu)
