Our Parther Group is based at Universidad de Concepción in the south of Chile

Our main partner in Germany is the IR/sub-mm Group at the Max-Planck-Institut für extraterrestrische Physik (MPE) led by Director Prof. Reinhard Genzel. Our group in Chile has currently 7 members, including three master students and three senior undergrad students.

Meet the group

Rodrigo Herrera-Camus

Group Leader. Associate Professor at the Astronomy Department at UdeC. Rodrigo obtained his PhD at the University of Maryland under the supervision of Prof. Bolatto, and was a postdoctoral fellow at MPE/IR-group between 2015-2019.

Katherine Henríquez Brocal

Master Student analizing how reliable are molecular gas masses measured in z~2 galaxies using CO, [CI], and dust tracers.

Raúl Baier

Master Student analyzing the kinematics of high-z galaxies using a set of kinematic modeling tools.

Felipe Sepúlveda

Master student analyzing the demographics of molecular and ionized outflows in typical, star-forming galaxies in the nearby Universe.

Camila Sepúlveda

Senior undergraduate student analyzing the physical and kinematic properties of the z~2, massive compact galaxy K20-ID5 (also known as GMASS 0953).

Yurgen Dunkler

Senior undergraduate student analyzing the molecular gas and outflow properties of nearby clumpy galaxies that serve as analogs of z~2 typical star-forming galaxies.
