PUERTO VARAS
The meeting will be held in the beautiful resort town on Puerto Varas, which is only 1.5 hours away from Santiago flying south. Puerto Varas is in the Chilean patagonia and very close to many great outdoors activities, such as fishing, hiking, rafting, mountain climbing, etc. It is also very close to Puerto Montt, from where a variety of cruises to the southern Chilean fjords depart, and to the scenic Chiloe island. Early March is a very good time to be there, since it is off-peak season (December-February), while the weather should still be good and pleasant.
GETTING THERE
By far, the best way to get to Puerto Varas is flying. Most people will
fly first to Santiago. Most flights from
Europe and the US will arrive early in the morning (7-9am) to Santiago. From there, there are several flights every
day to Puerto Montt city (PMC) either with LAN or Sky Airlines. The non-stop flight
from Santiago to Puerto Montt takes about 2 hours.
Once you get to Puerto Montt's airport, if you let us know your arrival
date and time, there will be somebody from the conference waiting for you to take you to your hotel in Puerto
Varas (this is included in the registration fee). The trip from Puerto Montt's airport to Puerto Varas takes about
30 minutes depending mostly on weather conditions.
