Dr. Neil NagarNeil Nagar's research focuses in matter accretion into massive black holes in galaxy nuclei (AGN). He studies the incidence of those AGNs (especially weak AGNs in nearby galaxies), their properties and evolution. He is also interested in the evolution of accretion activity as a function of redshift, and across the merger sequence (and eventually the final state of the mergers). His work primarily uses high resolution radio observations (from the Very Large Array and Very Long Baseline Array, both operating in USA) and optical and near-infrared imaging together with spectroscopy on several large telescopes. Neil Nagar obtained his Ph.D. in 2000 at the University of Maryland, USA, and joined the astronomy group at the Universidad de Concepción in 2004.
